(New Caspian X Luna)
This is my summer child, hard won AI baby from Luna this June. It took several tries to catch her, but this dear little man is my reward. He is his sire with wattles (and sundgau wattles have a little white stripe!).
What he'll bring to the table is a beautiful front end with flinty shoulders, while maintaining a nice level rump. New Caspian as mentioned below built our style in one generation, it was hard to even pick what thing was better on him. Those kids sailed to the top of the line in the show ring, easy class toppers. Capella is an example of New Caspian linebreeding and my near ideal doe, taking that GCH as a kid at MN State Fair and real near to BIS. Upon freshening, sported the highest rear udder in the herd.
We'll put him on the Gambit line almost certainly and pepper him back on New Caspian related does.
(Vicco X Lady)
DNA / Sire Qualified
This powerful young buck is Lady's final gift to us, taking AI to Kastedemur's Vicco and this boy sure looks like his dad. He's got a near perfect rear end with incredibly wide, long, and level rump along with a scoopy escutcheon.
It's hard to say as much about this young man as Eclipse as I'm still evaluating Vicco in action on our herd. We're excited to see how he'll cross on our does who need size, power, and overall back ends because I think he won't miss on those areas. We'll likely put him on Chi/Gamora doe line.
One word on temperament - both our young bucks are obviously cuddly and in your pocket kids. There is a distinct difference in kids at early ages and you can see who is going to be that sweet tempered type animal. This guy has his momma Lady's outlook, and I'd love to have a pen full of this - it's about half and half now.
(Phoenix x Luna)
We're using this young buck on around half the herd in 2023. He brings a nice, large frame, terrific bone, upstanding and high headed.
Update - Titan was sold but leaves his mark on our herd through 4 daughters, 2 on the Gambit line (Sahara & Astra) and 2 on the Chi/Gamora line (Toast & Nyx). We'll have photos of these kids as we update the doe page in August at the Olmsted show where we take most of our pictures. I'm excited to see these kids fresh as he built very long, tall kids much like himself and being sired by Phoenix hoping those distinctive Phoenix udders - who often top their class in udder placing - will come through.
He also made a son with Sil who is working in a herd in Iowa.
(Altrece Cosmopolitan x RPS Acres Brielle)
When we saw this guy hit the market, we immediately contacted our friend Hannah at RPS Acres for the opportunity to bring in more of her genetics, and to linebreed some on our existing Altrece Cosmopolitan lines. We used him once on each doe line this year to see what he produces on each. UPDATE - Phoenix is sold as we got great daughters and lots of straws in the tank. He is stamping an udder that is winning 1st udders in 2023, so we know what's in there and will circle back to him via AI.
(Robin x Gamora)
This young man has my heart, and did as soon as he hit the ground one day during my lunch hour - legs for days and a back end you could drive a truck through. He is going to be a very large buck, yet has a gentle temperament. This is our first home bred buck and was used quite some on the Gambit line this year. UPDATE-Caspian was sold in 2021 after we got some super nice kids, several rosettes, and daughter Capella going GCH at MN State Fair.
(Lucky Star Lothario x RPS Acres Daphne)
This little fella was my reservation for this year, but switching to Red we still ended up taking him home. Please see facebook for better image/video of him, as he has really grown in to himself. He did get to cover one doe this year, so I'm excited to see what he produces. UPDATE - Ajax was sold after siring 2 groups of kids. The sole survivor is Aurora, who did very well as a junior kid and will freshen in March 2023.
This buck had a lot of things going for him, but unfortunately became very aggressive to people at around 11 months old. Despite trying some interventions, we couldn't get anything to work. It was unfortunate, and when I say aggressive, I mean he went across a pen full tilt, ramming. Given he was going to become a very large buck, he was sent out for safety reasons. Molly and Aurora are his descendents in the herd, and Our Caspian is working in another.
1x GCH (official leg)
Beautiful but accident prone. Lady, Gamora, and Star are his legacy here, plus he's in the tank. In 2020 we kept a grandson of his who is very reminiscent of this beloved fella. We do expect to circle back to him via AI in later generations, as he stamped a body type that is our goal, and made some distinct udder improvements in his get. UPDATE - We have gotten far enough away from him now to circle back and we've begun to do so, making one new son in 2023 who will be used in the herd. More AI breedings direct to New Caspian are being evaluated. Through the grandson we kept, we got daughter Capella who shot straight up the leaderboard as a kid and stayed there at freshening.
2x GCH (unofficial)
Now lives deep in Wisconsin. Gambit is his legacy here, along with some beautiful splashes and roans he brought in to the herd (but we lost the wattles :( ). He's also in the tank.
(Autumn Acres Black Zephyr x Vintage)
We're switching up breeding to have a heavy bias toward AI. We used Kastdemur's Vicco on around half of the herd for the 2022/23 season.
Kids so far from Vicco - Lee, Ladyhawke, and Siri. Parentage DNA verified on Lee who will be siring kids in 2024.
(Tempo Liggety x Tempo Eviana)
We used Tempo Evan for the 2021/22 season and got two doe kids who will remain dry in 2023. Parentage was DNA verified for Rhyannon and Rhaenys.
(Kastdemur's SA Stingray x Marran Delana's Danae)
Some memories just don't leave you. We see many beautiful animals from the Marran herd in the ring, but in 2021 their MN State Fair Grand Champion Danae swept us off our feet.
Chatting ringside at the 2023 state fair with the Adamson's, we learned they were standing a son of this doe and were having him collected. We reserved straws and upended all our breeding plans for the year. So far Sil is confirmed bred to Stevie Ray and we plan to keep our next herdsire off this breeding as well.
